Procurement Strategy for Aboriginal Business (PSAB) was launched in 1996 to augment the Government of Canada's commitment to increase procurement and participation in major economic opportunities for Aboriginal business. One of the tools that PSAB has developed and maintained is a national Aboriginal business directory (ABD).

PSAB is a national Government of Canada initiative led by Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC). All federal government departments and agencies are encouraged to participate in this initiative.

Aboriginal businesses can increase visibility by registering in the PSAB's Aboriginal Business Directory. In order to increase procurement opportunities for Aboriginal businesses, INAC in collaboration with Industry Canada (IC), maintains an online ABD that streamlines and simplifies the PSAB registration process.
